Hello Parents,

My name is Romelia Umaña and I am the newly assigned Assistant Principal, Elementary Instruction Specialist (APEIS).  I oversee all the special education programs at Sheridan St. Elementary. Programs include:

• Preschool for All Leaners (PAL) ages 3-5
  • Ms. C. Contreras
• Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Grades Tk-6
  • Mr. J. Payan
• Speech and Language (LAS) Grades PreK-6
  • Ms. J. Kim

Here at Amanecer Primary Center, our special education team works hard to ensure your child’s specific learning needs are met by providing a wide range of research-based strategies and supports.  Our focus is to ensure our students are provided with a Free and Appropriate Public Education in the Least Restrictive Environment that is most appropriate to meet their individualized needs.

I am scheduled to be at Amanecer on Wednesdays.  I look forward to meeting each one of you during the annual IEP meetings scheduled for your children.  Remember, your participation in these meetings is very important. Feel free to reach out with questions, concerns, or just to say hi.
